Small hive beetles/ Kansas City

#1

I was stunned to find a few small hive beetles running around inside one of my hives today. It seems to early for this to be happening! I’m in the Kansas City area and got my packages from Tennessee.

Last year, my first year keeping bees, my colony was ultimately destroyed by shb and wax moths. (There may have been queen issues, so they were vulnerable.) I have scoured the internet for organic methods of control that would work in a horizontal top bar but can’t find anything definitive. Some say get nematodes, others say that won’t help. Has anyone here tried anything that actually works?

I’m also wondering if any of you folks live in the Kansas City area. It would be great to have a community of tbh beeks with interchangeable top bars so we could help each other out with queen issues, etc.

Thanks!.
