Gulp - Hive and Bees on the way

#1

I apologize in advance - I bet this is the kind of question that gets asked all the time but I could not find an FAQ. A link would be a perfectly good answer.

I ordered a Warre hive from Bee Thinking and 3 lbs of Italian Bees from a local guy (arriving Apr 6th). What is the best way to come up to speed on getting started: introducing the bees, feeding, etc?

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

I am in much the same situation as you. Except I am in the process of building my warre hive.

First thing I did to start was to download the warre book. Well, its actually the English translation, but I don’t speak French.

http://www.users.callnetuk.com/~heaf/be … or_all.pdf

this site is pretty good and http://warre.biobees.com also has a lot of info.

I would recommend buying the ultimate top bar hive tool from beethinking. From my what I’m reading its very helpful when working a warre.

Third thing is to watch some youtube vids on warre hives. There are some really good ones showing how to install your bees.

Good luck !

Mike,

As REM said, http://warre.biobees.com is one of the best resources for anything related to Warre hives.

Here’s a link to exactly what you’re looking for regarding package installation: http://warre.biobees.com/hiving.htm

Best,

Matt
